If politicians and journalists, instead of working with genuine moderates, instead praise the reactions of groups that still aggressively promote Islamism, we legitimize such voices as the future of British Islam, while doing nothing to prevent the continued radicalization.
None of the responses to the Woolwich murder of a soldier, by two Islamists who tried to cut off his head, was revelatory, except for a set of seemingly moderate and sincere

Pat Condell has made an impassioned, logical demand (hat tip Jihad Watch) for what so-called moderate Muslims must do in the wake of the London jihad butchery last week
The historical record demonstrates that the jihad war theory which motivated the London atrocity has been put into practice by Muslims, continuously, across the globe, for over a millennium, through present times. What remains is for the Muslim intelligentsia to acknowledge this practice, as Bat Ye’or explained , over two decades ago, in 1991. She provided this scholarly call for the requisite mea culpa from the Islamic intelligentsia two decades ago (in her Les chretientes d’Orient entre jihad et dhimmitude: VIIe-XXe siecle):

Some of my best friends are Muslims. Or rather, some of my best friends were Muslims—not that they are no longer Muslims but that they are no longer my friends
The problem I had over years of friendship had to do with certain personal attributes which I value highly, namely, consistency and the ability to recognize facts. My friends were good men who believed in Western democratic values, in selective immigration policies based on the possession of needed skills that would contribute to both society and the economy, in the necessity for Muslim (and all) immigrants to assimilate into the heritage culture, and in customary methods of education and a traditional curriculum; they rejected the utter folly of multiculturalism as it is practiced in Canada.

MOST people find it hard to imagine stabbing another human being, let alone almost decapitating someone with a meat cleaver.
To do so in broad daylight and in the middle of the road, while asking passers-by to take pictures, simply beggars belief. Few can understand how the British jihadists Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale could be filled with such hate.

The murderers then praised Allah and stated that the British would never be safe in their own streets anymore.
