Teen succumbs to abortion pill. A Christian teenager in the United Kingdom has become the 14th known victim of the RU-486 abortion pill after she took the pregnancy-ending drug mifepristone in an attempt to please her Muslim boyfriend and his family.
According to the UK Daily Mail, details of the death of Manon Jones, 18, were revealed in an inquest today. A report from LifeNews.com said hers was the 14th known death from the drug, with eight of the victims being from the United States, one from Canada, one from Sweden, one from France and three from the United Kingdom.
Jones, was admitted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol on June 23, 2005, and died four days later. She was from south Caernarvon in Wales, but lived and studied in Bristol.
Her mother, Llywela, testified at the inquest her "bubbly" daughter struggled with the decision to destroy her child.
"'Manon found it very hard to make a decision to terminate the pregnancy. She wanted to keep the child but there were difficult circumstances which she had to consider with her boyfriend's family and their Muslim religion," she said, according to the Daily Mail report.
She said her daughter met the boyfriend, Naeem Muzzafar, at school.
She told how she had traveled to Bristol on June 11, 2005, to be with her daughter, who had taken the RU-486 the day before.
