Two Swiss nationals to face trial in Tripoli

The two Swiss businessmen held in Libya will face trial by the end of the year. Tripoli says they’ll be tried for tax fraud and visa irregularities. The Libyan vice-minister for foreign affairs says the two men will have to leave the Swiss embassy, where they’re under diplomatic protection.

The men had been held incommunicado by the Libyan government since September before being released earlier this week.

The two Swiss nationals have been prevented from leaving Libya since the arrest of Mummar Gaddafi’s son in Geneva in the summer of 2008 (...)
