Salman Rushdie Arrived In Bucharest Monday

World-renowned author Salman Rushdie arrived in Bucharest Monday at about 2.30 p.m. and will stay in Romania between November 23 and November 26 to meet with his readers and the press. Rushdie said this is the first time he visits Romania and he hopes he will have some time to look around, adding his program for the next days includes "books, work, reading, signing."

In response to a question regarding the fact that he did not ask for protection, as he was sentenced to death in Iran in 1989 after publishing "The Satanic Verses" and the fatwa is still valid, Rushdie said this is an old story and changed the subject, Mediafax reports.
