Christian woman sues ex employer over veil rule

A Christian woman has said she is suing her former employer after she was fired for refusing to wear an Islamic veil, according to a media report. Jordanian national Vivian Salameh, who worked at Jordan’s Industrial Development Bank for 25 years, claims she was dismissed from her role last week for failing to comply with a new dress policy at the firm, Associated Press reported.
The bank, which was taken over by Jordan Dubai Islamic Bank two years ago, reportedly made it mandatory for female staff to adopt a conservative dress code in January 2011.
When Salameh refused to wear a Muslim veil on religious grounds, she claims she was fired. (...)
