Indian Army expels 2,700 Muslims

DACCA: Another 2,700 Indian Muslims have been evicted from their hearths and homes by the Indian Army and Police from Tripura state and pushed into Pakistan through the Comilla and Sylhet borders, according to information received here yesterday.

These Indian Muslims, like those who were driven out in the first week of this month, also suffered inhuman torture, maltreatment and humiliation at the hands of the Indian Army which ejected them. They did not spare even the women and children.

These Indian Muslims were living in Tripura state for generations or years before independence. They have not been allowed to bring anything with them, and their properties and valuables were snatched away. These unfortunate Muslims were made to walk 16 miles at the point of a bayonet, through the hills before they were boarded on vehicles and carried to the border. (...)
