Syria: You will notice our reaction, Turkish General says

ANKARA - ''We will do what all great countries do, and you will see it when we do it,'' Turkish Army General Necdet Ozel told Aksam daily today regarding Syria's June 22 downing of a Turkish F4 Phantom jet.

''Of course, it will not be like a declaration of war,'' Ozel said. ''We are following the situation. We have every capability and every means.'' According to Ankara, the jet was shot down while flying an unarmed mission in international airspace between the coasts of Turkey, Cyprus and Syria. According to Damascus, the jet was within Syrian airspace and flying below the radar towards the Latakia coast. According to Russian experts, the plane was testing Syrian defenses and/or spying on behalf of the armed opposition. (...)
