New violence against Christians in northern Nigeria

At least 37 people were killed in armed attacks on Christians in northern Nigeria on July 7, in a series of raids around the city of Jos. A police official said that "hundreds” of armed men participated in the coordinated assaults. The region has seen mounting violence between Muslims and Christians.
Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama of Jos told Vatican Radio that his people are feeling increasingly desperate about the persistent violence. "Lives are being taken very casually,” he said. "This doesn’t seem to stop.” (...)
