Radical Muslim cleric Abu Hamza appeals his extradition from the UK to the U.S.
Hook-handed cleric Abu Hamza last night secured yet another hugely expensive delay to his extradition to the US by appealing to European judges. The fanatic, who has already cost the UK taxpayer more than L1million, has lost every stage of his appeal against being sent to America on charges that he set up a terrorist training camp.
He could have been kicked out this week, ending a saga which has lasted almost a decade.
But, at the last minute, the convicted terrorist’s lawyers made a final appeal to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
Euro judges will now spend at least two months deciding whether to hear the case of Hamza, and a group of other alleged Islamist extremists wanted by the American government.
