Emiratis enraged over UK mag publishing ‘top 5 bars to visit during Ramadan’ list

London: UK magazine Time Out’s Dubai edition has been accused of disrespecting Islam, after it published a list of the city’s top five bars to visit during the Muslim holy month, Ramadan.

The magazine, popular among the emirate’s ex-pat residents, reportedly published the article in its Ramadan issue, under the headline ’5 to try: bars in Ramadan’ and the names of the bars in the city which would be open throughout the holy period and gave their hours of business.

However, the magazine’s tweeted link to the article online was picked up on by Emiratis, who began an online campaign using the hashtag #stoptimeoutdubai on Twitter. (...)
