Britain: Court Blocks the Extradition of a Cleric Accused of Terrorism

A British court issued an interim injunction on Wednesday to block the extradition of the radical cleric known as Abu Hamza al-Masri to the United States on terrorism charges, granting a court hearing next Tuesday for an appeal. The cleric, who used the Finsbury Park mosque in London as a base to persuade young Muslims to take up holy war, challenged his extradition on the charges, which include helping set up a terrorist training camp in rural Oregon. The Home Office immediately challenged the appeal.
