The Turkish judiciary has become a weapon for settling scores, silencing opponents, restructuring Turkish society as an AKP party-state, and undermining secularism. That is the true nature of Erdogan's program

Fundamentally Freund: President Barack Obama and much of the Western press seem to have difficulty saying in close proximity to one another: ‘Islamic’ and ‘terror.
The past few weeks have been difficult ones for the United States and its allies, as they received some painful reminders that the war on terror is far from over. In a dastardly attack on April 15, two bombs went off at the Boston Marathon, killing three people, wounding 264 others and leaving more than two dozen amputees.

- A Pew Research survey of 38,000 Muslims across 39 countries shows the majority favour the implementation of sharia law - though interpretations of the Islamic law vary widely
The Pew study, entitled "The World’s Muslims: Religion, Politics and Society" demonstrates that there is no one clear definition of sharia law. Arab News reported special adviser to Pew, Amaney Jamal, said: "Sharia has different meanings, definitions and understandings, based on the actual experiences of countries with or without sharia."

The Uniqueness of Western Civilization by Professor Ricardo Duchesne is a refreshing and original book that breaks with the current Multicultural consensus to argue that Western civilization is indeed unique and has been so for a very long time, probably far longer than most people realize.
It is a daring text. Few other books have tried to cover such a vast canvass of thousands of years of history, and many of those who have attempted to do so were less successful than this one. In fact, it’s so full of information about many different societies, cultures and epochs that it’s rather challenging to do it justice in a few words.

In PJ Lifestyle today I consider what goes on in jihad families like the Tsarnaevs: "Peace will come,” Golda Meir once famously remarked, "when the Arabs start to love their children more than they hate us.”
The obstacle to peace was not actually Arabs as such, but Muslims who had imbibed Islam’s doctrine of jihad and hatred of non-believers and primarily Jews — a hatred so intense that it drives people to prefer death (and murder) to life.

It just keeps coming, the propaganda. A new wave every day. Poured out by ideologues determined to flood the truth – to drown it out – in wave after wave of lies.
"Norway isn’t becoming less Norwegian because it’s changing,” a man named Salimi cheerfully reassured Aftenposten the other day. Salimi – who came to Norway 37 years ago and was in on the founding of SOS Racism, the Anti-Racist Center, and various other enterprises and activities, including a well-known annual food festival in Oslo – described today’s Norway with enthusiasm as a place where immigrants and natives are gradually and peacefully adapting to one another, each embracing the new and mysterious aspects of each other’s cultures.

"Unbiased"? The Muslim Brotherhood Channel? Are they kidding?
How does Qatar do it? How does Vogue let Qatar do it to it? "Playing it straight?" The Qatari Sharia Muslim Brotherhood Revolution? And who is this Lisa "Playing It straight into MB hands" Fletcher? To be sure, she got the glossy treatment in Vogue, swanning amid a Marc Jacobs' perfume ad (Daisy), breast cancer awareness, and Van Cleef & Arpels.
"Al Jazeera America" is thrilled to bits.
But what price Glossywood?
From an earlier post:
Qatar, after all, is a country Freedom House deems "not free" where, as reported in Freedom House's the 2012 Freedom of the Press Report, it is against the law for journalists to "criticize the Qatari government, the ruling family or Islam."

- I spent an hour with my colleague, the prolific author Robert Spencer, discussing Bernard Lewis, nonagenarian doyen of Islamic Studies
The entire interview, conducted as a segment for Robert's outstanding weekly series of Jihad Watch programs on the Aramaic Broadcasting Network, is embedded at the bottom of this posting. Please read the summary assessment of my concerns before watching the interview. A more detailed analysis of Lewis's analytic pitfalls can be read here.

The time has come for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to confront US President Barack Obama. A short summary of events from the past three days:
On Tuesday morning, the head of the IDF's Military Intelligence Analysis Division Brig. Gen. Itay Brun revealed that the Syrian government has already used "lethal chemical weapons," against Syrian civilians and opposition forces. Brun described footage of people visibly suffering the impact of chemical agents, apparently sarin gas.
