Gates of Vienna 7 November 2012

…Not with a bang, but with a whimper.
A new documentary entitled Silent Conquest has just been released. It covers a topic which regular Gates of Vienna readers are very familiar with, but which most Americans — and many Western Europeans — remain blissfully unaware of.

An excursion into the blogosphere reveals the polarization which attends Islamic issues. Comment areas are populated with readers who seem to think that Islam is a monolithic belief system. This myth, maintained by both "Islamophiles" and "Islamophobes," has overshadowed any nuanced discussion of Islam.

The aftermath of collective punishment for Pakistan's Christians--the inevitable byproduct of the notorious Rimsha Masih blasphemy case, concerning a Christian girl falsely accused of desecrating a Quran--was more dramatic than the blasphemy case itself. Indeed, knowing what was in store for them, some Christians even held a symbolic funeral procession, carrying a Christian leader in a coffin and digging a grave for the "deceased."

On September 17, Reuters ran a story headlined: "Intel agencies warned U.S. Embassy in Egypt of possible violence."
That's nice. So why didn't "intel agencies" warn the US Embassy in Libya of possible violence, too? Presumably because the "intel agences" -- Petraeus' CIA, no doubt -- were focused on a "video threat" in Egypt, not in Libya, and on September 10 they cabled the embassy in Egypt accordingly. Egypt was indeed jump-starting another Islamic rage cycle from a Youtube video clip, "Innocence of Muslims," whose producer, incredibly, remains in jail on "parole violations." But, conveniently forgotten amid the many administration statements that there was no forwarning of an attack in Libya, AQ leader Ayman al-Zawaheri uploaded a video of his own on September 9 and 10 calling for Libyans to attack the US to avenge the US killing of a senior AQ leader from Libya, Yahya al-Libi. This video apparently went ignored by these same "intel agencies."

Mohammad’s schizophrenic disorder
Obsessions are seen in many mental disorders, including schizophrenia. However, unlike persons with schizophrenia, people with obsessive-compulsive disorder recognize that their thoughts and behaviors are senseless and wish that they would go away.
The obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) involves obsessions and compulsions. Obsessions are recurrent, intrusive, and unwanted thoughts, ideas, or images. The most important obsessions include fear of contamination, accidents (something terrible happens), symmetry, order, exactness, scrupulosity (religious obsession), and lucky numbers. Compulsions are particular acts that the OCD patient feels driven to perform over and over again. The most common compulsive behaviors are ritualized washing, bathing, repeating rituals, checking (doors, locks, etc) and counting.

Meanwhile, the Socialist government in France recently inaugurated a new mega-mosque in Paris as a first step toward "progressively building a French Islam."
A majority of people in France, according to a new poll, believe that Islam is too influential in French society, and almost half view Muslims as a threat to their national identity.
The survey reveals a significant degradation of the image of Islam in France. The findings also show that French voters are growing increasingly uneasy about mass immigration from Muslim countries, which has been encouraged by a generation of political and cultural elites in France dedicated to creating a multicultural society.
