The clash of civilizations comes down to a conflict of laws. Islam is its own legal and political system and it is incompatible with the existing legal and political systems of the countries that it is invading.
There is no understanding Muslim violence without understanding that simple point. Making concessions on depictions of Mohammed will not solve anything. There are too many points of incompatibility and too many of them involve issues of basic civil rights.
