Support for people who criticize their own Western democratic societies is now all too apparent among many Western intellectuals, academics, members of the media, international organizations, and religious groups which, while refusing to challenge cases of injustice, particularly in Muslim countries, instead criticize and condemn the state of Israel at every turn, despite the continuing physical and rhetorical aggression against it.

Police in Amsterdam have arrested the spokesperson of the Islamist group Sharia4Holland on charges of making death threats against the Dutch Freedom Party leader, Geert Wilders.

Abu Qasim was arrested after a speech he gave in Amsterdam's central Dam Square on May 25 (video in Dutch here), when he warned that Wilders would be "dealt with" once the Netherlands became an Islamic state.

I read Marked for Death: Islam’s War Against the West and Me during the hot Pentecost weekend of 26 and 27th May. When I started the book I was prepared to be disappointed because it’s not often that a book launched with such hype manages to reach the standards expected. But from the first pages of Mark Steyn’s excellent foreword to the last page of the book I found it as nearly as non-put-downable as any bestselling thriller.

On Sunday, the story that was front and center on the main page of the website of Le Monde – France’s purported newspaper of record – was a nearly perfect example of how to go about attacking critics of Islam.  Headlined "Why Islamophobia is Gaining Ground,” the article, written by Frédéric Joignot, begins by noting that Marine Le Pen, the daughter and successor of the fascist anti-Semite Jean-Marie Le Pen, "came first or second in 116 constituencies out of 577, exceeding 25% in 59 of them.”
